Pop Up Shop

Hi everyone. Its been an exciting weekend for fans of all sorts with Comic Con coming to a close. Lots of madness in down town San Diego, with over 100,000 people flooding the streets of a city that is built to accommodate 46,000. On Saturday, Disney Infinity was hosting a private D23 event at their outside pop-up shop location. They had quite a set up for the D23 members. They were showing live demos, hands on gameplay, sketch artists drawing anything you requested, nice little give aways, servers walking around with hor d’oeuvres, free booze, and they had a nice poster signing event with the creator of Gravity Falls, Alex Hirsch. I even got to watch a live filming of toy box TV and had the pleasure of chatting with the very sweet Allison! Aside from playing the game, she was the highlight of the whole trip! :) It was a nice calm event compared to when it was open to the general public, so if you are not a D23 member yet, consider joining!

While waiting in line for the sketch artists, they had a big glass case showing us the amazing display base that comes with the PS3 and PS4 collectors editions of the game. Because they had officially announced the Marvel villains, Loki was sitting in his rightful place next to the big frost giant. Enjoy some great pics of this beauty!

Isn't this thing gorgeous?

People who got a sketch made were not only treated to any character they wanted drawn, but they were also given the power disc given away at the Gravity Falls signing, Mabel’s Kitten Fists! Very cool! I got this drawn in honor of the newest rumored character to join infinity.

KITTEN FISTS!!!!

Wish they were both rumored…as a playset! Only time will tell!

It was time to play the Guardians of the Galaxy Playset. I lined up and got to play it on the Wii-U. It was loads of fun, but I wanted to try it again, this time with the PS4! I just love this playset! This is by far my favorite playset I’ve played out of the three. It just feels different, but familiar at the same time. It also kind of gives you a feel of what Star Wars could feel like when it comes to Infinity one day. I loved playing with these figures! Groot has this wicked ranged attack that travels underground and completely destroys the enemies. It makes me want to get him immediately at launch. As most of you know, I love Rocket! He is by far my favorite of the 6 GOTG figures. But don’t worry, all 5 are just amazing. Rocket has this epic special ability where he shoots his huge guns in berserk mode! Like he literally is like a rabid, rabies infested raccoon, wrecking havoc everywhere with massive machine guns! Totally awesome! For all of you asking for unique attacks in infinity 1.0 between all the figures, 2.0 is the answer you’ve been waiting for. These figures totally embody unique attacks between the characters. Not to mention the talent trees are going to help even more. I just hope they can figure out away to make all the cars figures unique themselves.

I AM GROOT!

I AM GROOT!

My favorite playset so far!

My favorite playset so far!

Ok, now I need to point something out. I think these are the most unique figures designed so far. They have something that stands out from all the figures…their base! Thats right, the metal looking platform base they all are standing on is cool, but not for the reasons you would think. Everyone of these charters have a base below that have these thematic holes designed into them. So whats the big deal? Well, when you set them on the Infinity Platform, preferably with no power discs below them, the light from the platform shines up through the holes and adds some kind of glow to them. Now they may not be lightcore like skylanders, but it definitely makes the figures look cooler with a light glow shining up at the figure. Just a nice touch!

Star Lord is fun to blast off with, Drax has sick spin moves, and Gamora is wicked fast!

Not the best picture to show the light coming through, but I will have that on another update!

So after playing as Rocket for a while and enjoying how incredible the collectors edition display base looked, I decided it was time to preorder and get my very own Rocket and limited edition poster! You only got Rocket and the poster if you preordered the game there. If you preordered inside the convention, you got a Groot figure. They had these amazing staff members helping you preorder via iPad. Was quick and easy! Thanks for my Rocket guys!

Props to Disney for having such fun and helpful staff!

Disney put on a spectacular event! The staff was friendly, the pop up shop was filled with amazing little surprises, and the D23 event made it more intimate. Can’t wait for news from the next event at the summit in Salt Lake city. Wish I can go! Enjoy a few more pics to get a feel for how great this event was.

Last night, we updated a story showing five of the upcoming Pixar Villains Vinylmations that have been found via the cryptic puzzle pieces some media outlets are getting, Vinylmation Kingdom included. This morning, we have added a 6th one to the list, thanks to the guys over at Destination Vinylmation. It’s Incrediboy (who grows up to become Syndrome) in the Pixar movie The Incredibles.

get-attachment.aspx_-768x10241

Incrediboy joins the ranks of Hopper, Zurg, Chef Skinner, Randall, and Stinky Pete as part of the set. Will this be all for the open window boxed series? Stay tuned, as more puzzle pieces (supposedly) arriving today should paint a better picture… or at least complete some puzzles.

To view the other 5 puzzles in their various stages, you can see our updated article from last night.

Well, this morning I was greeted with another box of puzzle pieces from Disney Consumer Products. Yesterday’s package contained what looked like Hopper from A Bug’s Life, and soon there after, pictures from other media outlets confirmed that San Diego Comic Con will be getting a line of Pixar Villains Vinylmations this year. Today, I got more pieces for Hopper, and a clearer idea of the puzzle.

10564920_10100463861085740_39011138_n

Looks like each puzzle is made of 15 pieces. If trend continues, the final box should appear tomorrow. looking forward to seeing how the others pan out today, as Inside the Magic has Chef Skinner, Stitch Kingdom has Zurg, and Vinylmation World… well, their’s is not conclusive yet.

Stay tuned as we update throughout the day with more completed puzzles from our other media friends.

UPDATE

Throughout the day, our media friends have also posted updated pics of Chef Skinner (Inside the Magic), Zurg (Stitch Kingdom), Stinky Pete (Vinylmation World), and a new one from Chip and Company… Randall!

Update 2: And Destination Vinylmation also got sent one of these boxes showing off Incrediboy

incredible boy

Tomorrow we all should be getting more puzzle pieces. Stay Tuned!

Today I got a press kit from Disney Consumer Products with very interesting components. Inside this box were (five) puzzle pieces. Though they do not fully connect together, they do give us some hints at a new Vinylmation.

10545017_10100463274231800_1588273950_n

Obviously, what we see here is Hopper from the Pixar movie A Bug’s Life. In addition on the box, it has #pixarvillains and #sdcc2014 on it. So, it looks like we will be seeing Pixar Villains at SDCC 2014 next week.

This further confirms Chef Skinner from Ratatouille as another member of this collection. In this enlarged picture, it shows Skinner in an open window series box, so it probably won’t be an exclusive blind boxed series.

What do you think of Pixar Villains as the SDCC exclusives? Let us know.
