This week on Vinylmation Vault we are staying at the Magic Kingdom and heading over to the Haunted Mansion to visit a slightly different and a yummy version of the famous Hitchhiking trio Phineas, Ezra and Gus.

There are several other versions of these guys available to collect in Vinyl form from the Haunted Mansion set to the Park Starz Series. Well only Gus and Ezra are available as Park Starz for now. The ones for this week will be the Mystery Bakery Haunted Mansion Series set which include the dynamic trio of Phineas, Ezra and Gus.

The Haunted Mansion Mystery Bakery series are a bit more whimsical looking than their Haunted Mansions versions and they are a bit cheaper on the open market as well.

What I like about this set is how the Artist Ron Cohee adapted these iconic guys into cupcake form while still keeping them the lovable characters we all know and adore. The ghostly green and grey colors used with these guys set off hauntingly nice and eerily amazing look.

Of course there’s a bit of spilled icing on each of the cupcake Hitchhiking Ghosts, which in turn makes each of the three happy in own way. Phineas with a big splotch on his head and some on his nose as well. He looks like he is rather eager to taste the icing as soon as it can get in reach of his tongue. Ezra has his usual maniacal look on as always but the icing is quite out of reach for him to enjoy. Finally Gus only received a small splattering on his nose where he is trying oh so hard taste it as soon as it is in reach of his tongue.

But what cupcake would not be complete with out icing? The icing is two-toned purple and green accompanied white screaming skulls. The skulls reminded from the organ located in the Ballroom from the Haunted Mansion ride.

So what are your favorite recreations of the Haunted Mansion Trio or even the attraction itself? Well that’s all for this weeks Vinylmation Vault and come back again to see what comes out of the Vault. Do you have a vinylmation that you would like to see in future Vault Series? Post a comment below!

Oh and these are my favorites versions of the Trio!

hitsWelcome to a brand new edition of Hits and Misses as members of the Vinylmation Kingdom community give us their thoughts on a series and this week we take a look at the new Mystery Bakery series.

RogPalmerUK – The bakery series was one of the first open edition series I ever brought, actually it was the only set my wife wanted to buy and so I’ve always had a nice connection with the series, plus I like cupcakes.  This series completely came out of nowhere, I wasn’t expecting a follow up series to the original and I think the Mystery concept is a great addition to this series.  This makes this series almost like a blind box series, you just won’t know what your going to get underneath.  My gut reaction to this set was simple, I must get my hands on the Haunted Mansion versions, all three of them.  Figment, Stitch and the Alien are nice figures that I wouldn’t mind getting just one of them and I think the idea of giving each Mickey Mouse a different face (Modern, Pie and Classic) is a nice twist but honestly I don’t mind which one I get since I probably won’t take the frosting off anyway.  So for me, this series is a Hit, however since its a Open Edition series, I’m adding it to my shopping list for my next WDW visit as I don’t think they will sell out quickly.

@Disneymart -Open window vinylmation with a blind box twist. It certainly sounds like a hit to me. I think this series will be a big hit because it has the great potential to pull in new collectors who might not have previously wanted to buy a blind box.
I think Grumpy is my favourite individual vinyl from this series because his facial expression in reaction to the cake on his nose is priceless. I really like how the diamonds and gems are incorporated on the ears and on the icing!!

Mark – The Mystery Bakery series is an interesting take on the original Bakery series. I’m not sure I’m sold on them as of yet, since I’m really trying to be more selective in my collecting, but there are definitely some good designs. The first hit are the Haunted Mansion cupcakes. I like how the 3 hitchhiking ghosts are included in the series to make it feel complete if you are lucky enough to obtain all 3 different ones. I also like how the frosting has those ghost faces that are easily recognizable from the attraction. My next hit are the Little Green Men cupcakes. Another one that made sense to have 3 different ones, just like the Pixar box set. My last hit are the Mickey cupcakes. I like how the artist used Mickeys from different eras. If someone were to pass by a shop & buy one Mickey cupcake for a souvenir, they’d be happy with whichever they received.

WDWRobert – After actively collecting since 2011 (not all that long ago) I have streamlined on what I collect. The nice this is what I sold did hold its value only to wave on gain/loss on a few. I only collect what I like now. You think that would be easier to collect and it does for the most part it does. But if I choose to not collect and then at a later date I decide I like this series I have to hope that the craze has died down so I am able to collect the series at a budget price. However is the series becomes a big success I am forced to pay mightily for deferring. Well this is such a series I am not sure about. They are an Open Mystery Box series. There are six releases and each release has three variations. So a total of 18 if you must complete the set. Some are only different “poses” while others are different characters. So it does make it easier for the fans of a certain character to collect. Well a little easier. Having said all this I will collect this series. Well only Haunted Mansion, Figment and possibly Dwarfs and Toy Story Aliens. I’m not a stitch fan.

Having only pictures to make a decision on if I like it or not can sometimes cause an inaccurate verdict. But since I was not given a free set I will do my best.
Toy Story Aliens (TSA):  In general I like most things alien and this series is right on the fence for me. I like the color theme. I can’t wait to see them in person. The Cupcake mold that goes over each Alien really completes the Cupcake look to it. But for me its what’s inside underneath that counts. They all look cute but for me I love TSA #3 the most. The closed eyes and green tongue licking its lips is just perfect. The opened mouth in the center TSA #2 comes in second place and the TSA #1 third. They are nice, but not my 1st choice.   The external cupcake purple color and “Candy” Jewel looks great. I am a big fan of the flat finished vinyls in general though. For this Series its Doc that takes the victory. The look is pleasant. The Doc face translates nicely to the Mickey mold.
For second place it was a tie for me. Dopey’s look playful naive look is great. But so is Grumpy’s riled look too. So thus the tie goes to both.

Figment (Group) – Before I start I must say I am a big fan of the original attraction and the original pavilion. Yes the cupcake is well colored which is in style colors that relate to Figment but what I love is the retro Pavilion Symbols! I will collect all three of these! With all three of them being the same character I do wish that they could of done a bit more with the faces. Maybe show progress from the first to the last in a way similar to the frosting finding their way down the face. It would have made a nice touch and may at the same time entice people to want all three. Now it does kind of do that already but maybe more dramatic.

Haunted Mansion. – Like the Dwarf Series the Haunted Mansion offers 3 different characters. So with its Hits and Misses I will be collecting and completing this series. The exterior Cupcake donned with its haunting musical faces look just foreboding. Take the icing and there are the three Hitchhiking ghosts. Phineas, Ezra and Gus made their way to the bakery. Phineas has always been my favorite and is still my favorite in this form. The simple befuddled smiled covered in icing just, well puts the icing on the cupcake! Gus pulls in a close second place. He too just looks great. Ezra? Well Ezra looks more like a demonic axe murderer than our lovable Ezra. I wish they would of kept the face more true and made it thinner and used shading to look that way. They have done that before.

Mickey – Of all of them these are the least creative or desirable to collect for me. All three are misses. Yes the Frosting looks great and I do like the Candy letters but that is it.

Stitch – The cupcake and icing looks great. Love the colors, and for that I will get at least one. Though if I collect them I am not sure how they will be displayed. Stitch actually looks nice in this series. Stitch Wink looks the most pleasing to me. Followed by the one that is called just “Stitch” looks more what I would expect of stitch to be. Lastly, there is Stitch Tongue. Still conservative as Stitch can be. I would of liked one of them to show Stitch at his best being the worst.   I look forward to seeing these in person and will definitely collect figment and Haunted Mansion. But collecting has told me, get a few stitches just in case you want to make a trade!

RogPalmerUK – While the Mystery element to this series is a really cool idea and having different characters is much more interesting than just a face with a different expression which is why I only want one of the Figment, Alien, Stitch and Mickey figures.  For me the weakest figure is the Dwarf’s, I don’t really like any of the characters design and so I won’t be going for any of these.

Mark – Although the series is beautifully done, there are some that I just wouldn’t buy for myself. The first miss for me are the Dwarves. Having 3 of the 7 just isn’t going to do it for me, so I’d think that people who are actually in to Snow White-themed vinyls will feel like they’re only getting about half a series. My next miss is the Figment cupcakes. Nothing against Figment, but being from California and having never been to Disneyworld, there is just no connection for me. Perhaps they should sell all of them at WDW. My last miss is Stitch. To me, he’s just not that big of a character within the world of Disney, so having 3 of him available all at once seems a bit much. But I do commend them for not going with some of the more obvious characters that they might’ve used.

@Disneymart – Is it me or do the Haunted Mansion trio look a little odd with the addition of a heap of buttercream/ icing on their heads? The design of the balery mould does not flatter them, however the artwork underneath is great. I think I’ll buy them bit quickly remove their ‘icing hats’!!
The other miss is Stitch. Why would I want 3 Bakery Stitch vinyls just because they have slightly different facial expressions?!?
