Disney Infinity [2.0]_20150202153430

Well, today is the day that Disney Infinity fans have been waiting for since the Aladdin figure was released for 2.0 last November. Today Aladdin’s Princess Jasmine joins him in the game, just in time for Valentine’s Day. To celebrate, Disney Infinity released this fun new video.

Starting today, players can buy Jasmine as a single pack figure, or in the Aladdin Toy Box Pack, which includes the Aladdin and Jasmine figures as well as the Aladdin Texture Set (Sands of Agrabah) and Skydome (Jasmine’s Palace View). These two discs are currently exclusive to this Toy Box Pack.

I had the opportunity to play with Jasmine and the two customization discs this past weekend, and let me just say up front that I had a blast. One of me favorite Disney animated movies is Aladdin, and as soon as I got a hold of Aladdin last year, I wanted Jasmine to join with him. I especially was hoping to snag Jasmine prior to my Walt Disney World trip this past January, because having her would have made this picture SO much better.

First off, let’s take a look at the figure itself. It is such a great sculpt and captures Jasmine beautifully. Once more, her character representation in game matches the figure pretty flawlessly, in my opinion. Looking upon the figure development, I think they did a great job perfecting Jasmine’s look.

Jasmine is very powerful, especially for being a mainly melee character. Her main set of moves of combat martial arts is impressive, ending in a twister kick with her magic carpet. Her ranged attack, Whirlwind, sends out a magic carpet twister that snaps up bad guys and knocks them around, dealing decent damage. Whirlwind can also be charged up, serving up an even bigger twister that deals even more damage.

Jasmine’s special move in Windstorm… and it’s just as is sounds. Jasmine summons up a mighty windstorm that unleashes a lot of damage to anyone caught up in its’ path. Jasmine also has a her Royal Decree, a special block-breaking set of moves that is quite powerful.

Jasmine’s Skill Tree mirrors that of other 2.0 melee characters, giving you options to strengthen offense and defense skills, speed, healing abilities, and recovery times.

One of the fun details about Jasmine is her “idle” action. A little birdie arrives and Jasmine interacts with it for a bit before releasing it back into the sky.

With the addition of Jasmine to your collection, you unlock a few things. First up are a couple of things for My INterior. Jasmine unlocks her portrait to hang on the walls, and her townsperson costume. What’s great about the townsperson is that, when placed in the Garden Ballroom, she eventually will unlock her princess flower, which will complete the princess flowers in that room.

Then comes this awesome concept art of the Jasmine figure, showing her at one point riding the magic carpet in the figure design. I can understand why this was changed, being that the ride-able magic carpet is a power disc.

Over in the Hall of Heroes, once you unlock Jasmine’s statue, the last statue that is currently needed in the 2.0 section of the hall, a special cavern is unlocked that can be explored. Here is how you get to the cavern.

1. Once all 2.0 statues are unlocked, the black “IN” sign on the floor at the entrance to the hall will turn into a button. Press the button.

2. Travel behind the Maleficent statue and behind the waterfall you will see that a panel has opened up. Go through waterfall and enter the entrance to the cavern.

3. Travel down the tunnel into the main part of the cavern, where you will find a pile of gold and Aladdin’s magic lamp. This is also the spot where rumor has it that a special gift will appear once all of the 2.0 characters are unlocked. Hurry up, Loki and Falcon!

Jasmine’s Palace View and Sands of Agrabah

Along with Jasmine, I was able to check out the two newest customization discs, Sands of Agrabah and Jasmine’s Palace View. It has been my plan to build an Aladdin themed toy box once these discs were released, so to actually have them here meant I actually have to man up and put some serious time into making my Toy Box. It’s coming along, so stay tuned. Until then, here is a look at both the Agrabah palace in the skydome, and what the Fantasyland Trees look with the texture disc.

Needless to say, I really enjoyed the addition of Jasmine to the world of Disney Infinity 2.0, and I feel like you all will, too. She’s a powerful princess and, best yet, complete one of the best duos this game has seen yet.

Starting today, players can purchase Jasmine individually for $13.99 MSRP and in the Aladdin Toy Box Pack for $29.99 MSRP nationwide here in North America, with releases soon elsewhere.

Stay tuned to Vinylmation Kingdom and Infinity and Beyond for some upcoming unboxing, gameplay, and other fun videos over at our You Tube channel.

The Sands of Agrabah (Terrain)

Earlier today, we published pictures of the poster being released with the Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) Starter Pack. On that poster were listed all of the upcoming Disney Originals Power Discs. Missing from that set of forty discs were two that Disney had already announced would be coming: The Sands of Agrabah and Jasmine’s Palace View, an Aladdin-themed Skydome and Texture pack.

This evening, when replying to someone on Twitter, John Vignocchi, Executive Producer, answered the question as to where they were.

JV is, of course, referring to the Aladdin and Jasmine characters that were announced to be part of Disney Originals 2.0. Aladdin will be available in November, with Jasmine out sometime in 2015.

This raises the question: will you be getting Aladdin when he releases as a single character, or wait until the character pack comes out?

aladdin and jasmine

As Disney Infinity 2.0 gets closer to its release date, we are finding out more about new figures and today Disney has revealed that both Aladdin and Jasmine will be available as Toy Box Only characters. While we have reported a few rumours about Aladdin being released, Jasmine took us by surprise.

Here is the official description for this trailer:

Bring on the Dreamer. Bring on the Daring. Bring on a whole new world! Aladdin and Jasmine are coming to the Disney Infinity Toy Box 2.0! What new worlds will you create? Each character is sold separately and has unique abilities only playable in the 2.0 edition of Disney Infinity.

Here is the trailer for Aladdin & Jasmine

What do you think of Aladdin and Jasmine joining Disney Infinity 2.0?

It was information posted on the Toys ‘R’ Us SKU database back in May that first leaked a lot of information, including new Marvel and Disney character releases, for Disney Infinity 2.0 (some of which has been confirmed, some not yet). Well, yesterday’s update of the SKU database shows a new Disney character added to the list… Aladdin.

Aside from him being included as a figure, nothing else is known. Will we get Aladdin related power discs? Magic Carpet ride vehicle? Genie Team-Up? Prince Ali Costume? We shall see.

NOTE: This inclusion of Aladdin in the TRU database does not confirm him being in Disney Infinity 2.0. Until the Disney Infinity team officially announces him, this is still a rumor, and will be treated as such. At this moment, the only official Disney characters in 2.0 are Maleficent, Merida, Crystal Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, and the newly announced Stitch. Aladdin joins Tinkerbell, Donald Duck, and Hiro and Baymax from the new Big Hero 6 movie as rumored, but not official, characters.

There are 5 new Toy Boxes to download this week on Disney Infinity and this weeks theme is Aladdin.

hitsWelcome to a brand new edition of Hits and Misses as members of the Vinylmation Kingdom community share their thoughts on a series and this week we take a look at Aladdin Juniors Series.

aladdin jr tray

RogPalmerUK – Aladdin is one of those great 90’s Animated movies that has become a classic and the Genie is easily in my top 10 favourite Disney characters and I’m sure this junior series is going to be very popular.  There are a few figures in this set that I think are pretty neat such as the regular blue Genie, Abu, Iago and the Cave of Wonders Chaser.  These are all really well designed and the level of detail on these juniors is outstanding, passing this set off to the Disney Store team was a smart move.

Joshua Jackson – When Disney came out with the first juniors designs I was a bit skeptical, I liked the concept but at the same time the designs were just a little plain for me. Over the last few years though Disney has taken this mold and made some of the best designs I have ever seen on a vinyl and Aladdin does not disappoint. For my first hit I have the Abu Elephant. I absolutely love this figure! I love the colors, hat in the ear, and the facial expression make this a great figure. Second hit is Jafar in his black robes, I love how the artist was able to transfer such a large character onto such a small mold and keep such great detail! Next hits are Genie and iago, the facial expressions, colors, and small details make these guys really great figures! My final hit is the cave of wonders chaser. This is hands down my favorite figure from the set, I absolutely love it!

WDWRobert – With each new release Vinylmation Jr. series I find myself getting more and more drawn to these smaller 1 ½ “ counterparts. For one there are fewer release in the Jr. series and second is the smaller area required to display them.

Hits Sultan: This Jolly Sultan looks great! They did a nice job transitioning him to a Jr. format. His proportions are spot on. I don’t think an adaptation to 3” would of look so worked out so well. Genie: You can never have to many Genie’s in Vinylmation form. This enormous fella transitioned well to the Jr. format. And you got to love his facial expression! That’s Genie at his best! Aladdin: Even though Aladdin looks sort of like a Muppet Baby complete with a “Huggies” diaper, I still love him over the A1 version of him. Elephant Abu: Who would of known that a large character would of fit so nicely in a 1 ½ “ Jr size. Once again with good use of colors and a wonderful smile make this Jr. a must collect. Cave of wonders: I love the Park 10 version of this but I love the Jr. version a little more. On this version the colors are more vibrant for me.

BigThunder87 – These Aladdin Juniors are so cool, I love the Cave of Wonders figure (especially because I can’t find the 3″ version) and I love how they have included so many lesser known characters as well.  Love the Jasmine ones and how cute is Rajah the Tiger?

RogPalmerUK – There are a few major problems I have with the Aladdin series and Juniors as a whole, I’m not a big collector of Juniors, I have maybe a dozen all together, most of which came with larger figures.  If I was given a pound for every time I saw the words “I wish these were a 3″ series” on social media sites, I probably could have got enough to buy a tray of them, the designs are just crying out to be put onto a 3″ mold.  I also have issues with juniors in terms of pricing, £6/$10 might be cheaper than your regular 3″, but it just seems very expensive for what they are and then we have the case size.  Seriously, 18 figures from a series is just so insane, almost $400!  Disney have made a big fuss of making most of the 3″ series smaller which nobody seemed to want, yet almost everyone says they wish Junior cases were smaller.  Disney need to cut the size of Junior series in the future, its a major turn off for lots of collectors.

Joshua Jackson – I must say this is probably the only set I don’t have any misses. There’s not one figure in this set I can honestly say I don’t like.

WDWRobert – Prince Ali: I do like the Aladdin character but the Prince Ali proportions don’t work for me all that well. It’s the headdress on his head that looks off to me. If you look on Sultan Jafar’s head there are several dark beige lines that give the head dress a better look. Not to pick on this vinyl too much but his facial expression looks off for me too. Abu: That is one crazy eyed monkey. The animation 4’s Abu looks a lot better. Rajah: He looks too much like his Zooper Hero counterpart. Snake Jafar: The entire look is just a big miss for me.

BigThunder87 – There are way too many Jafar’s and I don’t like my odds of getting the figures I like because there are so many, though I couldn’t resist buying a few in my local store.
