Hi everyone! I hope you have read my first column, Kristen’s Customs. Here is something else I will be working on. As I told you before, I have many different Disney collections and started to show you my Vinylmation custom collection. Well, from time to time, I will be posting news and stories about another collection of mine, and a growing community here in the US: Disney Tsum Tsum.
They originally appeared in Japan’s Disney Store last year and have become a big success. I had acquired most of mine from there and continue to add to my collection from Japan. Starting this past summer, they have been available here in the US Disney Stores, Disney Parks and online at www.disneystore.com. Today I will give you a little history on the Tsum Tsum and then in the future, I will let you know about the latest US releases, the latest Japan releases and show you some detailed pictures of my own when I get them in the mail! Be forewarned…you can’t just buy one!
Disney Tsum Tsum first appeared in Japan in 2013. In Japanese, the word “tsum tsum” means “stack stack”. So just like the name suggests, you can stack these cute little plush characters! They come in three different sizes; mini (which are about 3 ½”), medium (which are about 11”) and large (which are about 17”). They have a variety of different characters available in all three sizes with the minis having the most variety. In July 2014, The US Disney Store started to sell Tsum Tsum online and in select stores. So far we have seen Mickey and friends, characters from Winnie the Pooh, characters from Alice in Wonderland and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the newest collection that the Disney Store US has released and you can find them here:
In Japan, there have been many other collections such as Easter, Pooh Honey Day, Expressions, Polka Dot, Donald’s Nephews, Halloween, Pinocchio, 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf, Toy Story and more. As a fan of the Tsum Tsum line, I really hope we start seeing more of them here in the US. The Tsum Tsum line has gotten so popular in Japan that there is an array of other Tsum Tsum merchandise like bags, jewelry, clothing, stationary, tissue box covers, cell phone accessories, dinnerware and more! I hope we will start seeing even more of this available here in the US!
Stay tuned to Vinylmation Kingdom as I take you for a ride and we delve further into the world of Disney Tsum Tsum.
