Yesterday was day one of the Electronic Entertainment Expo! So many eager gaming fans waiting to get their hands on their favorite games still under development! A perfect venue to give you a taste of the games to come. Well today, that’s how I felt about Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes!
I got a chance to play the Avengers playset, the Spider Man playset, and the new toy box. I played them on all the major consoles except PS3 (and Wii of course). Let’s just say the next gen consoles make the game look amazing. The graphics are crisper then the norm and the toy box has much more room for building and adding numerous toys. Don’t forget that everything within the playsets and toy boxes still have the “toy” look, so don’t expect them to look too fancy.
While I demoed the game, I took advantage of having the developers and producers near by, so I asked as many questions as I could. I got the answers to questions we all have been wondering about. Here’s the information I found out.
> DI 1.0 playsets will not be playable on 2.0, however your 1.0 playset game piece will unlock all the toys from the corresponding playset that you unlocked and it will detect from your saves.
> Structured play discs are not included in the 80 power disc count. That means those pyramid discs won’t be in blind bags.
> The new toy box builders will build specific objects that you designate (example a tree or building) however, they will not max out your toy box. They will eventually stop their build to allow for further expansion. All they build is also completely customizable.
> Although the new gen consoles will have a substantially large toy box area and will make your toy box capability seem infinite, all toy boxes across all consoles will be at least 4 times larger then the original toy box incarnation. (I know what you are thinking. I asked the developer “you mean the playsets will be 4 times larger?” and he said, “So will the toy box.” Interesting, no?)
> Another demo guy said he wasn’t sure how much he was suppose to talk about, but he did confirm that eventually your Marvel figures would cross over to each other’s playsets. He wasn’t clear if it would be a certain figure or all the figures.
> I asked a producer the infamous question, “Will we have Disney playsets?” Well, he could not comment at that time, however, he gave me some interesting body language that made me feel a “yes” vibe. Kinda like he was bottling up the answer! But don’t quote me on this or trust my vibe! Lol!
> While taking Maleficent for a ride on the Main Street Electrical Parade Float, I noticed the disc didn’t have that hologram texture on it like the previous rares. I asked the guy why they weren’t textured anymore and he said it was to stop people from feeling for rare discs through the foil package and give everyone a fair chance! Brilliant Disney!!! Thanks for listening to us! :)
Now for some rumors/hints and reveals discovered by walking the booth and playing the game…
Looks like we have a hint for possible texture discs of Neverland or maybe even a possible toy box game disc to go along with the rumored Tinkerbell figure?
There was a room dedicated to non Marvel DI toy box building and this is where you could play with Maleficent and Merida. There were some nice cut outs of figures decorating the room, but there was also these two works of art decorating it too. Possible hints to what will join the Disney side of Toy box? We will see…
While playing as Thor, I took Lola for a spin, and while I was cruising I spotted this little cutie moving around the place. I had to pick her up and strike a pose!
Power discs being handed out already show the new Guardians of the Galaxy figures on the package!
And although we already know this, I needed a nice close up of the Mystery Shack. Here’s to hopefully getting Mabel and Dipper figures.
Now, for some new PDP info…I went to the PDP booth and asked about our Series 3 Disney Infinity album. Where is it!?!?!? After asking a few reps there, they directed me to one of the higher ups. They told me that the issue was supply and demand related. Basically that these things weren’t selling enough so they stopped making them. Well folks, now we have our answer. No series 3 album will be made, so make your own if you want too.
Now as far as what angle they are taking for disc storage and figure safe keeping with DI 2.0, they got some cool new things including a new album! It looks like its a custom binder with plastic sleeves. You know, the ones you would normally use for card collecting? I actually like it better! Just for some reason I do! lol! Check all this stuff out.
Thats it for news. Check out these DI booth pics and figures to get a little taste of E3.
After nearly three hours in line waiting….I finally got my swag!
Stay tune for more updates! Later today will be day two of our E3 coverage!
