This past week, I was invited to attend Mezco’s Pre-Toy Fair Event, where Mike Drake (“Drake”) and the gang treated us who braved the nasty weather with a preview of their 2014 lineup, which will also be on display at Toy Fair. However, unlike Toy Fair, the products during this preview were not behind glass, and some of it was being shown to the public for the first time.
Before we even get to the event, I just wanted to share some pictures of some of the awesome sites in the Mezco lobby, courtesy of past products and pieces of artwork, that left me wanting to leave with it all.
Mezco 2014 Preview Event
Sons of Anarchy– The headliner of the event was the new Sons of Anarchy line. Based off the FX show, which tells of an outlaw motorcycle family, Sons of Anarchy has become FX’s highest-rated TV series since it premiered in 2008. Mezco’s 2014 lineup will include action figures, bobble-heads, plush, pillows, signage, and other memorabilia.
Breaking Bad– 2013 saw the debut of Mezco’s Breaking Bad line of merchandise, based upon the very successful TV series that ran on AMC from 2008-2013, the 2014 lineup will see an expansion of the line to include action figures, bobble-heads, plush, pillows, and prop replicas.
Living Dead Dolls– Celebrating its 16th year, the Living Dead Dolls is currently only one of three toys lines still in continuation since 1998, and is the longest running horror doll line of all time. For it’s 16th year, Mezco is releasing a special edition 16th Anniversary Posey, a Headless Horseman, and five figures for their Series 27. In addition, they are releasing a Bride of Chucky “Bloody” Tiffany doll, and a Chucky/ Tiffany Valentine’s Day 2-pk.
Horror Properties– In addition to the living Dead Dolls, Mezco will be releasing some other horror related merchandise in 2014, including Chucky and Tiffany Plush, a Mrs. Bates skeleton doll, and some classic monsters figures.
DC Mez-Itz– Following the success of the DC Super Heroes Minis Blind Box set (also pictured), Mezco is releasing a Mini Blind Box set based off the Classic Batman TV series, which is finally coming to DVD this year. The set will pair well with last year’s release of the Classic Batmobile.
Axe Cop– Last up is Axe Cop, based off the TV Series on Fox, which is based off a comic book written by a pair of brothers (ages 29 and 5 when the comic debuted in 2009). Mezco’s 2014 product offering for Axe Cop includes a line of action figures and plush.
And that ends my visit with Mezco. Thanks again to Drake and everyone at Mezco to open their doors for us. looking forward to visiting with him again at Toy Fair, where there could be even more previews released, as well as the 2014 catalog.
