It was just a year ago that we first started to hear about the reduction of trade boxes at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, which resulted in a change to the way collectors could trade. It appears that a change has taken place at the Frontierland Trading Post in the Magic Kingdom. Reports have come in from a few different collectors who have visited the store this week that they have added a new clear trade box specifically for the Pixar blind box series (both Series 1 and 2).
Reports have been that the Cast Members have been pretty strict on what is allowed in this box as they have photos of what figures are allowed in this Pixar box and also will not except a figure that is already in the box. The Frontierland Trading Post already has a Park Starz trading box which follows a similar stricter criteria to trade with.
This marks another shift in how Disney operate their trading locations to offer a much more positive trading experience and this could easily be just a trial run to see how it works or if it will slowly creep out to other trading locations. And could this trial be spread out to cover other series such as Star Wars, Park, Animation etc?
There is no doubt that this would be a change from what we have experienced in the past but it could improve trading at the parks.
And if that wasn’t all, there have been rumours of selected Cast Members trialling a Vinylmation Trading belt which contains a few Vinylmations that are available for trade, much like how some Cast Members current trade Pins. This again is just a rumour and is reportedly just in a trial stage.
What do you think of this move?
