Every week we ask one of our Vinylmation Kingdom members what would they do if they got a extra $100, either from a Lottery Win, Birthday present, a work bonus or Tax Refund.

This week, we asked Travis D. what how they would spend a $100 (not including the boring stuff like shipping & tax).

Would it be on a very high priced vinyl? A load of traders/Outlet vinyls? A full set? A big DS.com order? There are lots of options.

What would I do with $100?

I would see how much I could turn that $100 into. Yes, I am talking about buying and reselling… buying low, selling high… you know the drill. Ultimately, my goal would be to either have enough for one of my Holy Grails, or enough to fund some of my Vinylmation buying at WDW this January.
Granted, some of you might not like people like me, and I don’t blame you. However, I see an opportunity to sell something for a profit and I will take it. Yes, at times I have to sit on the inventory for a while due to a misjudgment in the market (Villains 3 & Robots 2 are two examples) and, yes, sometimes I lose money. It is a gamble I take to try and turn my hobby into something other than a money siphon.

Have I been successful in the past? Yes and no. There are occasions where I make some profit, and those days are awesome. I can proudly say that I have not spent over double the retail price for any vinyl (that will change if I ever try to chase down my Grails). I have not gotten hosed in trades, and have made some great friends/connections in the process. Do I have a lot of extra vinyls laying around waiting for the right buyer? Absolutely. Is this preventing me from owning full sets of Park 9 and Park 10? Of course… because the allotted money is tied up in said inventory. However, it is a gamble I am willing to take.

So, yeah… that’s what I would do with $100.
