Haunted Mansion Designs on Both Molds. Which Do You Prefer?
The Disney Parks Blog released photos today and I was really surprised by something. The original mold was staring back at me in two pictures. (The old molds are the 9 inch customs for the event, to be clear) Take a look at both photos the “Solid” vinylmations are on the old mold while the clear designs are on the new mold.
Regardless of the molds, I prefer the designs that are solid. What are your thoughts?
The solids ARE SOOOO MUCH BETTER! Even the color palette is better in EVERY regard!
I like the solid ones better as well because unless the designs were meant to be placed on a certain light up stand it detracts from the design by being clear. Either have it as solid or solid and glow in the dark
Not only is it great to see the old mold, but I like the solid vinylmations better in general.
I think that’s why the only vinylmation I like from this set is the Master Gracey.
I would take the solid version on OLD mold any day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (time a million)!!!!!!!!!

Well,since it is about the Haunted Mansion and these images were released, then yes. See, for those of us who can read, the designs are obviously different so the question was asked. But Thank you for your pointless retort.
Man, I wish I was going to be in FL or CA where the Mariner is going to be for sale. The more I look at it, the more I like it! Compared to the green clear, the solid figure is such a great piece of ART, like we used to know and love.
And Peter…..if Disney can make all these new molds (cutesters Minnie, Park Starz, etc), why can they not bring back the OLD mold on a limited basis? There are some collectors that still love the original and the art that was painstakingly transferred to that mold.
This is a silly question to me. Old mold all the way. But I also agree. The solid is so much better.
The solid colors are much better than the clears, but the new mold is better. If they could release the solids on the new molds, then it would be perfect.
Solid…old mickey mold is sooooo awesome! No comparison.
New mold sucks…Always has…Always will!

I know that I am in the minority here, but I do like the clear better than the solid. It just adds more to the ghost feeling for me, although the artwork on the solid is stunning. I think it’s the yellow eyes that really grab my attention.
Although I love the old mold, I do think that there is more artistic detail that can be transferred to the new mold.
I don’t mind the clear concept. It works but you just don’t get the detail.
The solid ones have a nice vintage feel to them. I definitely prefer the solid designs. To be honest, I am not in the old-mold/new-mold war — they aren’t different enough for me to really care. I can’t tell looking at my shot glass case full of vinyls from afar. I just like good designs, so I would have taken the solid on the new mold over the clear plastic they came out with.
Molds don’t matter on this nearly as much as the color and detail-work, the solids have both at such stellar levels, far surpassing the clears and I partially wonder if it’s due to the fact that presumably the solids are customs?Generally the factory mass-produced vinyls have always been lower on the detail end of things than custom hand-designed figures so it’s to be expected, regardless I feel like the solid base would’ve added so much more depth to it so it’s rather disappointing they went with clear which despite the best efforts of the design team is rather lackluster and I’m not so sure I care to even collect the series because of that
