Across the Pond – “Disney Stores in the UK are for Adults Too!”
Disney is a worldwide brand that appeals to people of all ages however here in the United Kingdom, the Disney Store hasn’t really got that message as if you wander into a store in the UK, you will find a big pile of soft toys, shelves of the latest movie/tv show kids outfits and toys along with a huge baby section.
If your above a certain age, you will find it very difficult to find anything for an adult other than a DVD, a mug or perhaps near Christmas a few token items like slippers or a single pair of Pyjamas and maybe if your really lucky a small selection of Vinylmations and even pins seem to have been taken from the majority of stores.
Unlike our American counterparts, Disney Store doesn’t seem to cater for the adult Disney fans with most of us visiting the store and walking out empty handed since there isn’t anything for us.
Now, Disney may point their fans online to DisneyStore.co.uk which does carry much more selection such as handbags, stationery, watches, figurines, pins, vinylmation, kitchen essentials, and other items. But its a very small selection as a quick look over at the American counterpart (.com) and there is so much more selection for adults, with barely any of these items being available in stores and there is so much more that isn’t available over here.
Obviously I’m much more interested in improving the Vinylmation here in the UK such as getting more releases and to get whole sets (like only getting half of So Tasty and F&P). But this is much bigger problem than just Vinylmation and I’m surprised Disney haven’t cottoned on to the idea or it seems the suits up in the Disney Store HQ just see their stores as glorified toy and baby shops.
However, my friends over at the DisAfterDark Podcast have started up a I-Petition to get the attention of the Disney Store to stock more adult lines (including more Vinylmation), So if your a Disney Fan in the UK or Europe (as you have access to the UK’s website), please take the time to sign this petition.

I’m Nick Branch, co-host of the Dis After Dark Podcast, and I, like many of our listeners, fed up with the lack of available products aimed at adults in the Disney Stores in the UK. Unlike in American stores, or those found at their Theme Parks around the world, Disney Stores UK have decided to turn their back on those big kids with the most disposable income available. Instead, their stores are focused on kids and very small children with a very small amount of merchandise available for adults.
Long gone are the days of T-shirts, Snow Globes, Socks, Ties, Jewellery etc being availble for grown ups. Now, I say enough is enough. We have a voice, let us be heard! We want more adult clothes, adult collectables, adult jewellery and even more Vinylmations!
Our voices can make a difference. Please sign this position and show them that there is a market for Adults as well as kids.
If you want to hear Nick’s rant over the state of the UK stores, its in the latest DisAfterDark podcast.

The US Disney Stores doesn’t have much for adults either. Thankfully I live really close to WDW!
i have to second JEP’s comments. i go to a few disney stores in my area, and none of them really have much for adults. a few tee shirts in the back, occasionally some travel cups. even the time square NYC store doesn’t have a lot.
