“Up in the Attic”: Disney Monopoly
NOTE: Family and work issues prevented me from posting this yesterday. My apologies.
When people ask me what I collect, I don’t think they expect to hear “Monopoly Games” as one of the things on my list. However, I am a proud collector of one of the most popular board games in the world… and a board game that has had numerous versions made. Currently, I have a collection of around 50 different versions.
Yes, I know… a little insane I am. The collection has slowed down over the years, only really getting a version if I find it really cheap or as a gift for Christmas or my birthday. I have versions ranging from pop culture giants like Star Trek, Star Wars, and The Simpsons… to more obscure ones like Golf, National Parks, and Air Force. I have two versions of The Muppets… exactly the same, but different outside packaging. Why? Like I said… insane. Most are still sealed and mint. A couple have been opened and are well played with.
Lookins at the entirety of Monopolies I own, my biggest collection within my collection has to be Disney:
Let’s see… we have (2) version of The Disney Edition, Disney/ Pixar, My Villains, Nightmare Before Christmas, POTC, POTC: On Stranger Tides, and Mickey Mouse 75th Anniversary. A small Disney collection, I will say, being that there are numerous more. I am especially happy with the MM 75th Anniersary one, as I think its a highlight of my collection.
Some cool things with this collection:
Love the money designs with each version, but this one for NBC takes the cake. Many faces o’ Jack.
Each Pixar movie at time of the version’s release is represented by a color block. It’s fitting that Andy’s Room is Boardwalk.
With My Villains, you actually choose the “value” of the villain. Pretty cool idea.
These two Disney versions use a lof of the same designs and playing pieces, but the new one comes with a moving Tinkerbell feature, where she can help lucky players throughout the game.
At least with a new POTC version, we got new playing pieces, aside from Jack’s famous compass.
Anyone out there also collect Monopoly games? What’s your favorite version? Does anyone even play it anymore?

Unusual collection. My monopoly board is the older Disney version (Always go with Dumbo). Although I don’t play it that much, takes too long with just two people.
I use to have a small collection of Monopolies – nothing like yours – 12 or so. But I moved and had to get rid of them. They are very expensive to collect…. The price seems to go up up up on those
Yea, I wouldn’t know… I normally don’t pay for hem, but get them as gifts. I am sure they can be expensive though.
I had a small collection, well compared to yours at least, to the normal person anything more than one is a large collection. lol I only have 10-12 of them and everyone gets played with. I didn’t leave any of them sealed. I used to play monopoly all the time when I was younger rotating through them, not so much anymore. Maybe when my son is old enough to play I can pass the love of monopoly on to him. After reading this I had to go look at all of mine. lol Most of the ones I have you had in your pictures, just a few different ones. Now I want to play!
I thought I was the only one! I also collect Disney related Monopoly! Pixar is my favorite but I hope they make an updated one, and 75th is a close second. Im glad I am not alone haha!
Ha ha… I once collected Monopoly games. I think I have about 120 of them. I gave up when I discovered Vinylmation figures. They just sit in boxes now & I am perplexed on what to do with them. I would like to sell the collection as a whole, but don’t have a clue what it is worth. My favorite one in the collection is the Franklin Mint first edition. It is made in a Cherrywood box & has a velour game board top & silver & gold game pieces. Google an image of it, It’s pretty awesome!
