A Wishes and Desires Give Away : Park Pop! Series

We have seen the explosion of Pop! in recent months. This hobby has gone from nonexistent to full force in a relatively short time. Pops are bridging the gap between the genres of Marvel, DC Comics, Music, Disney and much more. It is not uncommon for you to see a Darth Vader displayed right next to Ariel. A wide array of collectors are adding these vinyl figures to their collections. And why not? They are well designed, have vibrant colors, are just about the right size and sell for about $10.

Pops! are a hit.

As a matter of fact, I have Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas sitting on my desk along side the Flying Monkey from Wizard of Oz. That reminds me, I have to find a good place for my Run DMC Pops. I think that I will put them next to my three Wonder Womans. Did you know that there is a Regular, a Metallic chaser and a Black and White event piece? Who would have thought that Jam Master Jay and Wonder Woman would share the same shelf. Well in the world of Pops it is not only possible, but encouraged.

But you know what is missing from this Pop Universe?

Nope, not Ugly Dolls. Those are coming. Not even Elvis or Michael Jackson. You can have your Billie Jean inspired vinyl to remind you of those groovy cool Junior high dances, but you can not have anything to remind you of that Magical trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Well folks, I am here to inspire Freddy Funko to create a series just for you. To represent those magical moments that you never want to forget. This is Park Starz with a Pop Vinyl twist. Pop! Starz if you will. And at about $10 each what could be better?

Please feel free to make your own list, but these are the first 12 to come into my mind:

Figment – Already in the Park Starz catalogue, but he needs to be made

Dream Finder – Just gotta display them side by side

Captain EO – We already have some Funko Michael Jacksons coming so this is not too far fetched. I mean, how popular would that figure be?

Supreme Leader – Need a villain or two in every set. I think that she would qualify

Hmmm….You know what. I am not a fan of being freaked out by my collectable. So on second thought I bring you Fuzzball

Yeah, I like that much better. Moving on

Magic Kingdom’s Dapper Dan – Great outfit. Could make variants in different colors

Yeti – I know, another Park Star, but if you can think of a better Animal Kingdom character please let me know

Indiana Jones – The hat. The Whip. The Vinyl.

Small World – take your pic on what country you would like to be represented. If it was up to me I would go with the Hula Girl or the girl from Thailand

Kermit – Easy to picture a Muppet as a Pop. In fact there is a Muppet set coming out. Tweek him a bit and you have the perfect 3D Muppets Kermit

Sweetums – Thought about going with Animal here, but Sweetums has the bigger role

Captain Jack – Need a POTC in this set. Why not Johnny Depp?

Barbossa – Would love to see how this one would look

Brer Rabbit  – Too long ignored in the vinyl world.

Vulture from Splash Mountain – Just because it would look cool. Heck, If you needed to find your happy place, you could even buy two of them and display them side by side.

OK – That’s 14. I guess that would leave room for a second series :)

Wait. A. Minute.

I need to make a few changes to the list

Was looking at this list and noticed that something was lacking. There is no Mickey. What’s a Pop series without a Mickey? That needs to change if these are going to sell well.

I am going to take Fuzzball off the list and replace him with Mickey. But not just any Mickey

Yep, that’s right. Mickey with Duffy. Before you all complain, I will tell you that I was going to go with a Duffy figure instead. But I figure that this would soften the blow

The next change is the removal of Barbosa. We wants the Red Head!

Well you finally got her. Took long enough.

Of course these would be exclusive to the Parks. If we are lucky there would be a chaser aspect. Like a Flocked Figment or Metallic Small World Thai girl.  How about a Flocked Sweetums? Cool.

If you like these, but you feel as if some other icon of the Parks would better represent what you love about WDW or DLR, please post in the comments.

I will be compiling a list and forwarding them off to my Funko connection. So, don’t be shy. I would love to see this happen. Funko has a relationship with Disney so this may be possible.

If you do not have any other ideas, just please sign in the comment section. Let’s make this happen people.

As far as the give away. Here are the details. All it takes is a post in the comment section. If we get 25 comments, from 25 different posters, I  will pick one random comment and send off a Mickey Mouse from Pop Series 1 to the author of that comment. Now in order to get our Mickey you must be a member of our Forums. So please hop on over to The Vinylmation Kingdom Forums and register. That is how I will get a hold of the winner. Wouldn’t you love to have this adorable Mickey in your collection? And it’s FREE!!!!!!

Simple as that. I would love to see as many comments as we can get on this one. I want to see this happen. A Disney Parks Pop! Series needs to happen. At least one.

GIVE AWAY UPDATE

I had previous mentioned the giveaway would end on 2/10 but I have decided to pull a name for the give away on Wed 2/8 instead. So get your comments in. Remember you must be a member of the forums to win

  1. Would love a set of Hitchiking Ghost POPs. John from Carousel of Progress would be awesome too. Plus we need a Walt Disney also.

    • Totally forgot about the Haunted Mansion, Shame on me
One of my favorite attractions is COP. John would be cool
And Walt Disney. Interesting to see how he would translate into Pop form,

I’d love to see the Ball from Epcot – I know that’s weird. But I have a fascination with that ball and lots of pictures from when I was 6. Plus a different vinyl for each country in Epcot World of Nations – that’d be really cool :)

    • You know Lauren,I though about Spaceship Earth as well. Then I thought about some of the characters inside it. Like the Pharaoh, or the paper boy, who now for some reason has his back turned
Thought about country Epcots as well, just did not know the best way to do those.

    • That would make a great set! One from each country. Either an icon or cast costume from each piece of the showcase

I think a Maleficent dragon from Fantasia would be amazing! if they could design to fit the small body that is.

I’d agree with we need a Walt Disney. I’d like to see the statue of Walt from Disneyland be the model for that. Something else I would love to see would be the hitch hiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. For the yeti, maybe he should be switched out for the Abominable Snowman from the Matterhorn?

Fuzzball or Hooter from Captain EO would be amazing! Small world is a must – I think Flamenco girl would be a good one. Maybe also a tribute to Jungle Cruise and Tea Cups :)

I would love to see one of the fab five in World Showcase garb, like Goofy as a Mountie or Donald in his Mexican outfit.

    • Donald was the last not to make my list. But I agree, it would be really cool to have a whole set of World Showcase characters

I totally agree with Jep about the Hitchhiking ghosts.
My favourite park character has to be POTC Dog with keys but he might look strange standing up in pop form.
How about Dumbo instead, he could be really cute, admittedly he’s not just a park character, but he would look very cool.
If you want obscure then I’d love Camp Minnie-Mickey blue bear sign (I love that it’s coming out as a Vinylmation)

  8. An iasw series or a world showcase series would look awesome on the new smaller size that POP! is coming out with.

    Great lineup Xero.

Chernabog should be added to the list. I know he’s not in the parks, but there are a lot of untouched animated Disney character that we are dying to see.
Also, let’s add Roger Rabbit to the list. He’s already coming as a 9″ Vinyl, but I would rather pay $10 for him rather then $75.

Would love a Toy Story series. Can you imagine Buzz’s large plastic helmet on that little bitty body?

  11. Would love to see a Tower of Terror Bellhop. Migh have to work with the size of the head but it could turn out to be a cool POP!

  12. buzzcoleman14 on said:

I agree, an Indiana Jones inspired Pop would be incredible.

  13. Since I’ve seen Star Wars Pops at local stores already, and I hear Chernabog and POTC Jack are in an upcoming Pop set, I think we need the following:
    -COP John
    -A Mansion Ghost
    -Sebastian and King Triton
-A spacesuit and a scuba suit from the end of Spaceship Earth with a photo slot
    -Animal
    -Gangster from GMR
-Cinderella, Aurora, etc (since they have Belle, Ariel and Snow White)
-More of the princes (since we have Beast)
    -Meeko
    -Flik

Great set idea but where is the Haunted Mansion love in your set. We could use some POP HM figures. I guess you left that for series 2. I am glad you were able to fit Brer Rabbit in there.

  15. Bentoch on said:

Not sure how it would look but since I’m a huge Tron fan would love to see those in addition to Dreamfinder and Figment of course

  16. JustMeg on said:

I want Prince Eric. I would also love to see a Lilo (my Stitch is missing his ohana!) Carl, Russel, Kevin, Little Elli, and Dug from UP!

    • We need to see some of the Princes in the Disney Series to go along with the Princesses. I agree 100%
Princess/Prince/Villain/Sidekick would a be great display. Kind of sounds like a great Wishes and Desires article :)

    • Lauren (LP1983) on said:

Definitely all the UP! characters that’d be amazing. And then I need a Pascal. Both in vinyl form and Pop!. He needs to be represented. I love Pascal. How about Lady and the Tramp? There’s tons of characters there. And also the Dancing crocodiles from Fantasia.

  17. Toro423 on said:

I love the Pop vinyls. They need to come out with more princesses since there absent with vinylmation and they need to come out with more villains. Three characters I think will look great as Pop vinyls are Genie, Russell, and Doug. Supposedly Funko is coming out with about 8 Disney series so we still have a lot coming.

  18. Melissa on said:

I would love the free Mickey!!!!

  19. Poncho Pete on said:

    Abominable Snowman from Matterhorn
    Haunted Mansion Ghost
    POTC Red Head
    Small World–something cute
    Carnotaurus
    Goat from BTR
    Brer Rabbit
    Figment
    Test Track Dummy
    Star Wars Droid
    Mickey in Soaring Gear
    Crush

The pops are growing on me…..I would love a lilo (like JustMeg said)…..I have Stitch and Tink but some its a small world would be nice too :) …..and maybe a hufflemup (sp) from the winnie the pooh ride would be neat :)

LOVE the POPS! way better than the new vinylmations in my opinion! some great ideas here!
i’d love to see a Disney Cruise Line Mickey POP myself.

  22. So I am going to compile a master list of wished for Park Figures and send it on over to my Funko contact.
We have some great ideas and can not wait to hear from more of you.
Not sure, but I think that we are pretty close to the 25 different posters as far as the give away is concerned. I will leave this open for one week then do the give away then

  23. Personally, I’d like to see someone do Judge Doom from Roger Rabbit. He’s one of my favorite and most-overlooked villains.

  24. underdog on said:

of course it goes without saying that an Underdog set would be amazing too!! Sweet Polly, Simon Bar Sinister, Shoeshine Boy…

  25. I would love to see the muddy pig from POTC! He is one of my favorite vinylmations and I think a Pop of him would be awesome!

  26. Toadjumper on said:

I’m also in favor of the Test Track Dummy, or Tom Morrow. I also like the idea of Brer Rabbit since there is almost nothing anywhere that has to do with “Song of the South.” Maybe a Steven Tyler to go with Aerosmith’s Rockin’ Roller Coaster, or even Mickey’s sorcerer hat from DHS, or Mickey as a sorcerer. Lastly, what about the magic brooms from “Fantasia”?

  27. Christina M. on said:

I want to see a line of Disney Princess’ Or Tinker Bell… Do they have already? Just something that says “Girl Power” Disney style :-)

  28. dstarsalpha on said:

Lets see a Dreamfinder POP! and maybe and mini Figment to go with it

  29. Lady Vinyl on said:

    The Country Bears: Shaker, Liverlips
The Tiki Birds: Zazu and Iago from the old,new refurbished Tiki Room
Freddie Funko dressed as a Jungle Cruise Skipper
The Tiki Water Squirters in Adventureland
Maybe a Hollywood Studios street performer like Bon Appetit or Beau Wrangler
    Chef Mickey

  30. KingPrawn26 on said:

Would love to see a Park set. That would be another Pop series to add to my list.

  31. Love all the ideas. Keep ‘em coming
Giveaway update – I will be announcing the winner on Wed 2/8
    Thanks

  32. Giveaway winner is announced tomorrow :)
But remember you must be a member of the forum to take possession.

  33. I always loved the part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride where the pirates are asking for the Red Head. That would be an awesome addition.

  34. DirectingChaos on said:

I must admit I was not too fond of these at first but there are some characters that fit the design concept perfectly and they are growing on me… I do like the Mickey and Zurg one’s (as well as a few others) in particular.
