Vinylmations have gone Bonkers, More Kermit, and Black & White is so in!
Sometimes you have more news than you have time. So you throw everything into one story and present it that way. Consider this article a sort of “Vinylmation Casserole.”
With word earlier in the week that the Disney Afternoons “Bonkers” set was arriving on September 2, I thought it would be nice to share with you an image that Vinylmation released.
I honestly have no idea about this set. I’ve never seen the show, nor had I ever heard of it until the vinylmation set was discovered in Hong Kong a few months ago. But with all the hysteria surrounding the previous bad experiences with Disney Afternoons releases, I sorta am drawn to this release. Sorta like a moth to a porch light. A deer to headlights, me to a Corona Light… You get the picture. I won’t be buying this set but I will be around to watch the drama that inevitably will follow it.
When Kermit first went on sale last Friday, he sold out quickly online. Fortunately for people who don’t live near the parks, Kermit has not sold as well at D-Street. I guess that explains the awesome news that Disney has sent more Kermit 9 inch vinyls to the Disneystore.com warehouse and the figures will be available on August 19th, the same day that Flat-nosed Gonzo and Camilla are available for purchase. How many are available? I’m not certain. I’ll go on a wild guess and think that at least 100 are available. Hopefully more. 1500 Gonzos are available that day just to be sure.
Have you ever seen something so beautiful but you have no interest in acquiring it? That’s how I feel about this LE of 2000 Black & White set that goes on sale tomorrow. It’s designed by Sarah Matthews and will retail for $99.95 at D-Street locations and online. Look at the following pictures and tell me if you can doubt its beauty?

It is simply one of the best looking sets you will see but I just can’t see me buying it. Consider it a “sacrifice” I have to make to afford the other 345,932 Vinylmation releases that are coming our way in August. Seriously, guys. I don’t have another kidney to sell! If you do purchase this set, contact us with your up close, detailed photos. I would love to see it.
yeah, never watched Bonkers…nor did our kids..so i’ll watch the drama unfold as well.lol
the black and white set looks interesting but i’ll pass on that as well. My Kermit and Animal should be arriving today via UPS. Very excited about that! Guess i’m going to have to get the Gonzo as well.lol..there goes my “not buying anymore 9″ vinyls” promise i made to myself..:)
Can’t wait for Bonkers! This is going to be released at D street this time….so it should go smoother? I hope. I will be at the WDW D street early to make sure I get this set!
I’m starting to get a little concerned about the Darkwing Duck set. That was really the only Disney Afternoon set I was looking forward to, and now 2 previously unannounced sets (Doug and Bonkers) will have beaten it to the market…and there’s still no announced release date.
I think it will be after Bonkers….There was pictures on ebay a ways back ago of Darkwing, from dumpster divers….I think they just wanted to release Doug and Bonkers first so that people would still be interested, since they are the lesser known characters from Disney Afternoon. I’m not losing hope for Darkwing just yet
Look at the bottom of the feet of the Black and White set- it still has the Art of Disney Parks logo. My guess is that this set was a mystery for such a long time because they had the designs but really didn’t know when to release it. Interesting.
As for the extra Kermits going online, I’ll believe it when I see it. I wonder why they didn’t move the extra Kermits to the parks (i.e. the Muppets store in the Studios)
So glad for Disney Afternoon set D-Street release. I was getting tired of my orders getting canceled. Maybe they are saving Darkwing for last to end the series with a bang?
Wow… The Black & White set is beautiful!! I cannot wait to pick this one up!!
The only set i wanted was the Duck Tales and if they have Dark wing Duck. Everybody else can have the others. Vinylmations are coming out in large groups now and starting to get hard to collect them all like i wanted to do. I’m doing what most of you are doing buying what i really like know. Now its getting very expensive to collect them all.
