A Full On Vinylmation Robot Attack! UPDATE: CHASER PIC!
If you have even a slight interest in Vinylmation, I’m sure you know the Robots series is coming this Friday, July 22nd. We brought you the first images of the series a week ago but now we have better shots of each of the vinyls (minus the chaser) and the packaging.
UPDATE: SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM TO SEE THE CHASER
Robots Series Tray
Robots Series Blind Box
Let’s talk about the packaging for a second. If there is anything that the Vinylmation team has mastered, it is the packaging of the new Blind Box series. The colors of the tray and blind box are as vibrant as the vinyls themselves. I really have to commend them for their efforts in this regard.
Cards?
Now this is an interesting thing to see. Why does this series have cards? We’ve known for years that cards were on their way out. Park Series 6 didn’t have cards as you remember. However, I have seen cards for all the 3 inch figures. Have they reversed their decision? Or is this just a one time thing? I would love to find out!
3 inch Robots Front and Back View

I honestly love this series ore and more each time I see it. The colors scream nostalgia to me and believe me, I’m not old enough to appreciate the 50s wind up robots. I know some people were bummed this series was not filled with Disney related robots but I like the uniqueness of the series.
9 inch Robots
This Oskar Mendez design is named “Reflector Bot” and you can certainly see why!
Marcella Lau created this “Silly Bot” which has a whimsical yet beautiful look.
My personal favorite of all the Robots is this Jim Valeri 9 inch design.
I do not believe we have ever seen such an onslaught of Vinylmation publicity for one series ever. Will this be the new standard for Vinylmation advertising? I don’t believe so or we would be getting a similar onslaught for Urban 7 which hits stores the same day. I feel that the Disney Store sees a good looking series and are hoping to capitalize off of it. I’m glad to see the Disney Store pushing these little guys.
CHASER has been found thanks to a great source! Scroll down to see it.

I have been thinking about this very same thing for the past few days. I wonder why there is such a buzz surrounding the release of this series. When I have called the disney stores to find out about Urban 7 the CM’s either didn’t know or had to ask someone to get me the information, but they every one of them always made sure to tell me about Robots. I was told about the date, information about the series and about the special signed collector cards for the first 12 people who buy one. I don’t know if this is the new standard or I know don’t say it, because it is on the new mold so they are pulling out all the stops. Will we see ANYTHING about urban 7? Will the Lion King series have the same send off?
I think a lot of the publicity via the Disney Sores and Vinylmation sites is due to the fact that Disney itself really has said nothing about it. I don’t think that it has been mentioned on the official Vinylmation Blog in months if at all. I think they are using a different method that we as fans are not used to, so they can see if it will ge the word out better and help sell more.
I really think this is one of the nicer looking sets to come out since Park 5 (along with Steam Park). It is the past looking into the future, I love it. I really hope to score the 9″ set as I think the 3″ set will be around a while like Villians. Kudos to the artists, they did a fantastic job!!
It looks as though they are on the new mold, which would be a strike against what would be a PERFECT set.
On a side note, does anyone know if they are changing the 9″ mold?
I really wish 3″ robot series be open window edition not blind box…
Does anyone know the LE quantity for the 9-inch Robot Vinylmation figures?
I believe there are 700 of each.
Gabe, the LE for all 3 is 600.
I love this set, but too many coming out! I can’t keep up either….I think I’ll pass and trade….
Two of the three stores near me would not discuss the speical signed cards for the first 12 people that buy robots. I found that so strange. The one closest to my house was very informative. The time the store would open, how early the mall would allow people in the store, the special cards, and the fact that they do already have stock and are sure that they have enough so as not to sell out. The other two would only say that they were in stock and waiting for Friday. The CM at the register had to ask if it was ok to tell me what time the mall would be allowing people in for the release. She was told no. That I would have to call in the morning to find out. Lame!! I’m not buying the series, but was asking so I could pass along to others what I had heard and found it sad that these two stores were being so hard nosed about the whole thing. Especially when I read on here how open all the other stores are with the info on this set. I do think that these will sell better than CLY.
My Disney Store here knows me by name, so I got all the info, but yeah there’s another one near me that thinks that they are holding WEAPONS OF MASS Destruction! It’s crazy! Again I want them, but…….
Urban 7 have been delayed to some stores cause of shipping times. The First 12 Guests who buy any Robots Vinylmation will recieve 1 super sized Robots Vinylmation Card personally signed by one of the 5 artists who designed the series. Each store will only recieve 12 cards which measure 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. If you buy 1 or a whole tray..you only recieve 1 card. Placeholder cards will be given out to waiting Guests if over 12 waiting in line.
The only one in this series I want is the 9″ Salvage Bot!! Are the 9″ coming out all at the same time as the 3″??? Or at a later date. Nothing about this release seems to be like the others so I was curious.
Awesome interview with Oskar Mendez, from back in January. Check out the Illustrator template for Kaa!

OH for this chaser, the concept art has it white but that could mean the chaser is clear. That’s what I’m going to guess.
There is no clear parts on the Circuit-Bot chaser. The white in the pic is actually light grey on the figure. There is also turquoise and metallic blue on the figure.
Thanks DiMera78!!
