The Disney Store’s “Buy One Get One FREE!” Sale
Planning the Attack
I was sitting on the balcony of the condo I was staying at in Florida when I came across a post in the forums reporting about something amazing going on at Disney stores everywhere. Disney stores are running a promotion when you buy any vinylmation you get a HAL or U5 for free. I thought to myself could this really be, could Disney be giving something away. I still had 2 days left in Florida and began thinking how could I swing another trip to a Disney store. I already stopped by the Memphis, TN store on my way down to Florida. So I began my research looking for a store that would not be too far off our path back to IL. I found that the Atlanta area has 3 Disney stores. How unfair is that? The closest one to my house is in Chicago, but Atlanta gets three. I called each one on Friday, the day before we left, to find out what kind of inventory was left. One store was out of U5, but had plenty of HAL. The other two stores told me that they had plenty of cases and one of the CM’s told me to “come on down!” The next thing I had to do was to convince my wife that it was not too far out of our way. I think it ended up adding about an hour an a half to our total travel time. It didn’t take much convincing because she knows how much I enjoy vinylmations, plus I know deep down she likes them too.
The Mission
So Saturday morning we all got up bright and early at 5 a.m. and started out on our long journey home with a detour to the disney store. We arrived at Perimeter Mall around 12:00. I headed straight to the store. I remember reading that the store was located in the Macy’s wing, hey exactly where I parked. I was really amazed at the store itself. This was the first redesigned store that I have visited. We saw buzz Lightyear flying by on the wall. At one point lightning started and all the CM’s started telling everyone that the villains were coming and we all had to help Tink create fairy dust to stop them. My wife commented that it was like we were back in WDW.
Objectives
Ok, I was finally here and I had a few objectives in my head:
1. Buy some cutesters too to get the rest of what I wanted, I am not talking about you scary kids.
2. Get some U5 for free, to finish my set and get the elusive 3-D Mickey chaser.
So I bought 12 blind boxes, 10 Cutesters too and 2 toy story and I also picked out my 12 free U5 from an already opened case. I was worried that someone had already picked out the chaser, but oh well I didn’t drive all this way to go home with nothing. So I made my way to the register and handed over my treasure to the CM. She had to ring up each one individually and then take off the free one. I decided to wait until I got to the hotel to open them. It was the longest five hour drive ever.
Mission Accomplished
So I began to open each box one at a time. I started with the Cutesters too and opened each one. I had the help of my wife and son, even though they both like to talk about how much time I spend hunting these things down. I got a few that I didn’t have, some that I did, and some of those creepy kids.
Now for the freebies! I had 12 U5 to open and it was really exciting opening each mylar pouch just hoping to see that 3-D mickey looking back at me. Well the first box I picked up, opened it, took out the pouch and ripped it open. This is what I found:
I couldn’t believe it but there it was. All the work leading up to this was worth it. I had finally got what I was after and it was FREE! I opened the rest of the U5, not like it mattered, but I did need a few more to complete my set. So I was able to add the knight and the gear bear to my set. Also added Rex from toy story and another Bullseye. I had a really great time planning and executing this adventure.
I can’t wait for my next assault on the Disney store on Michigan Ave. at the end of the month as I hunt down Urban 7!

I hear that it is until July 17 or until supplies are gone. I am sure that supplies will not last that long.

Congratulations on your 3-D Mickey too! I think a lot of people are taking advantage of this great deal. I just wish I lived closer to a disney store so I could go and get some HAL vinyls.

Totally great first article. I got my 3D Mickey a couple weeks prior so I haven’t had the need for this sale. It is so cool to see so many people get that 3D Mickey that they have been craving for so long.
I checked two stores in Houston and between the two stores they had one unopened HAL case. No unopened U5 cases. Also, between the two stores, only one had any U5s, half a case, if that. One store had 1 HAL, the other had 6 or 8. They definitely did not stock up for this promotion in Houston.
BTW, “YES” I did get the FREE case of HALs. Not often does Disney give you $250 for FREE!
You are right, rarely does Disney give anything away for FREE!
My brother bought a full case of Cutesters Like You and got a full case of HAL for free (both cases sealed). I bought the set of 11 off of him of each, I then traded the set of 11 Cutesters for the set of 11 POTC. Now I just have to track down some chasers.

Yeah I think it was around $120 for all 24 vinyls, that is a really good deal.
My family bought two full sets (48 Vinylmations) and split the cost and Vinyls four ways! We each got 12, but from trading I ended up with 15! Woo! I love this deal, and it got me the HAL Chaser and Urban 5 Chaser, as well as the full set of HAL!!!
Most stores are out of the have a laugh and urban 5′s. Any info on if they may get more in?
Tony, I think the sale is going on until the stores sell out. There is a chance that some stores that are selling more than others could get another shipment but there is no way to know without checking with the local Disney Store manager.
